Package Details

Lower Dolpo is located in the northwestern Himalayan region of Nepal, Dolpo is the land of the world’s natural hidden wonders in the corner of Nepal’s western Himalaya. The exotic journey of Lower Dolpo trekking is visiting the southern part of the Dolpo region. It opened for foreigners in 1989.

The exploration of rich wildlife, ancient and isolated villages with distinctive Bon-Po religion surely offers a lifetime experience to keen trekkers. Lower Dolpo Trek crosses three relatively high passes, good paths are followed throughout and there is no trekking on glaciers. At the edge of the Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayan rain, a shadow lies Dolpo – the legendary hidden land closed for years to trekkers. While Upper Dolpo requires an expensive permit to visit, Lower Dolpo Trek doesn’t have the same restrictions.

The 18-day trek begins with visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Lower Dolpo Trek with Peak Climbing Nepal Guide Treks starts with a sweeping flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj –a southern town city in western Nepal. From Nepalgunj, we take another short scenic flight to Jhupal at lower Dolpo – the starting point of the trek. You trek through a semi-desert region combined with a densely forested path filled with pine, rhododendrons, bamboo, and juniper trees along with trails made up of huge meadows, brown landscape, and terraced colorful fields. You will have to walk 2-3 hours on a daily basis which can extend up to 6-7 hours.

A unique trek in Nepal, it is ideally suited to both beginners and those who have “been everywhere”. You haven’t until you’ve been to Dolpo.
